Angry residents at Agric in the Tamale Metropolis on Thursday lynched one Musah Issifu for shooting into the crowd during a funeral ceremony and injuring six as a result.
According to AdomNews correspondent for Northern Region, Illiasu Abdul Rauf Dabre, the deceased argued with his brother, resulting in a scuffle at the funeral ground in the evening.
Musah Issifu is said to have rushed home, returned with a gun and opened fire.
After the shooting, Musah tried to bolt from the scene but was caught by some individuals present and put to death.
The victims include Fuseini Mohammed, Mohammed Gafaru, Ibrahim Abdallah, Issah Boarow, Mutawakil and Sadik.
Sadik according to reports, was shot in the head. He died upon arrival at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
The other five injured are receiving treatment at the hospital.
Assemblyman for the area, Mohammed Mutala, expressed shock over the incident. He said such a barbaric act has never been witnessed in the locality.
Meanwhile, the remains of Musah Issifu has been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital Mortuary for autopsy pending investigations.
