Former Black Stars head coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor says Abdul Fatawu Issahaku can be one of Ghana's best players at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
The teenager was named in Milovan Rajevac's final 28-man squad for the tournament which will be held in Cameroon, starting January 9.
At just 17 years, Issahaku could shatter Akonnor's record of being the youngest Ghanaian to score at the continental showpiece should he find the back of the net in Cameroon.
Akonnor achieved the feat during the 1994 tournament when he scored against Kenya at age 20.
Akonnor, who handed the youngster his first call-up into the national team has now tipped the Dreams FC midfielder to become one of Ghana's top performers at the competition.
“If you get a chance as a youngster. You should be ready. What he did with the U-20 is graduation. When he came to the Black Stars I integrated him gradually. He stands a big chance to show his talent if he gets the opportunity”, he told Happy FM.
Issahaku is expected to play a part in Ghana's opening game after returning to training following a knock in the 3-0 defeat to Algeria in a pre-Afcon friendly.
The Blacks Stars will play Morocco in their opening game on Monday, January 10.
