Xiaomi opens second West Africa store in Ghana

Global technology giant, Xiaomi (MI), has opened a second showroom in Osu, Accra, following last October’s successful store launch at Spintex.

The new showroom located on the popular 'Oxford Street' has in stock a wide range of Xiaomi products like mobile phones, Android TVs, smart rice cookers, routers, smart bags and a host of others.

At the opening ceremony, Sales Director, Mustafa Shaaban told Joy Business that the new outlet feeds into a well-thought-out campaign by Xiaomi Ghana to strengthen its presence in the country and dominate the West African market.

“Our brand is very strong, the quality is very good and our prices are competitive. So with this Osu shop, we are targeting the mid to high range. In fact, we are targeting all the range because our prices are good,” said Mr Mustafa.

“We have very good plans for Accra; we intend to open six shops by the end of February”, he added.

Explaining the rationale behind choosing Ghana as a hub to establish their business, Mustafa said, “Ghana has a lot of opportunities, especially in Smartphone’s and tech it is very well developed, the network is very good here, and it will help us accomplish things, Ghanaians deserve this”

As it sets up showrooms at the strategic locations in Accra and Kumasi, Xiaomi is also actively working on setting up in West African countries like Togo and Ivory Coast.

In the 2021 global Smartphone market share, Xiaomi moved to the number 2 spot, edging close to beating Samsung to the number 1 position and beating Apple hands down.

With a top of the range product design and quality, coupled with excellent customer service, Xiaomi Ghana is certain to dominate the market in the coming months.
