President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku has dismissed assertions that he and his administration are scheming against Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
Some supporters of Kotoko allege the FA is acting against the interest of the club because Kotoko supported the bid of former FA Vice President, George Afriyie, during the October 2019 GFA election.
A section of Kotoko supporters particularly accuse Kurt Okraku of influencing matches in favour of archrivals Hearts of Oak last season, as Kotoko lost out on the chance of winning the Ghana Premier League.
However, the FA President, a former communications and marketing director of Hearts of Oak from 2006-2007, has dismissed such assertions.
He says neither himself nor anyone from his team members is against the Porcupine Warriors.
“I feel very sad when people discuss this subject matter because people who are deeply involved in Kotoko on personal lines know what I have done for this club before when I was not the FA President. When I became the FA president through your own support, Krobea Kumasi Asante Kotoko was the first club I visited. Kotoko is a powerhouse in Ghanaian football and any FA President who will want to forget this will never have a successful reign,” said Kurt.
The FA boss emphasized that his administration will not be biased towards any Ghanaian football club, let alone Asante Kotoko who have a rich football history in the country.
“There are 17 other premier league clubs, there are 48 Division One clubs, there are 20 women premier league clubs but Krobea Asante Kotoko comes with a rich history owned by the big King. Nobody can show disrespect to a brand like this. The FA has been very supportive of Kotoko in their African Cup campaign and beyond. So the football Association and my good self do not hate and cannot hate any football club let alone Kumasi Asante Kotoko,” he stated.
