On Sunday, 5th December, 2021, the South Africa Embassy hosted a South Africa Business Networking and Cultural Show in honour of H.E. Cyril Ramaphosa, the President of the Republic of South Africa who had come to Ghana on a 2-day state visit.
The event took place at the residence of the South African High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Grace Jeanet Mason beginning with a welcoming cultural performance by the Noyam Group.
H.E. Grace Jeanet Mason gave the welcoming address, speaking on the impact of South African businesses on Ghana’s economy. She emphasised on her role in strengthening bilateral, economic and cultural relations between the two countries.
Three exhibitors were then introduced who had some of their artworks displayed for the guests. They were Lion Art Centre, Dede and Nii Marma. The guests were treated to some refreshments as they networked and interacted with the exhibitors.
The cultural part of the event consisted of a fashion show dubbed, Mzanzi Fashion Goes West. Fashion designers who showcased their designs at the show hailed from South Africa and Ghana amidst performances from Elsie Duncan-Williams, Abiana, Nana Asaase and Samini.
Featured designers included; David Tlale, Duaba Serwa, Sally Torpey, Atto Tetteh, Thula Sindi, Chocolate Clothing, Laduma Maxhosa and Harmony Trendz. The fashion show ended with H.E. Mason and all designers on the runway waving South Africa and Ghana flags to signify their partnership for mutual benefits.
The South African High Commissioner to Ghana gave the closing remarks speaking on her foundation and its activities so far in connection with NGOs with a call to action for guests to support the foundation.
Guests included Hon. Shani Alhassan Shaibu (the Northern Regional Minister), Fikile Mbalula (South African Minister of Transport), Ambassadors, the corporate society, queen mothers, NGOs, Miss Tourism Ghana 2021 winners among others. The South Africa Business Networking and Cultural Show was produced by Glitz Africa.
Partners of the South Africa Business Networking & Cultural Show included; Stanbic Bank, MTN, Multichoice and Goldstar Air. TT Brothers and South Africa Wines provided refreshment to the guests. Mac Cosmetics served as makeup partners for the event.
