Celebrated producer Dr Dre threw himself a ‘Divorced Af’ party to celebrate his divorce from his ex-wife of 25 years, Nicole Young, after an ugly $1 billion legal battle.
The 56-year-old rapper was pictured posing with a celebratory display of balloons marking his newly single status in an image posted by Breyon Prescott on Thursday.
Dr Dre in the photo, smiled as he sat in front of a massive ‘Divorce AF’ balloon bouquet.
‘Hey Well My Brother @drdre Just Told Me It’s Final !!! Congrats (champagne bottle emoji) Still Dre,’ Prescott captioned the photo.
The celebratory photo indicates the rapper’s divorce from Nicole, who filed for separation in June 2020 after 25 years of marriage. The former couple share daughter Truly, 20, and son Truice, 24.
In the $1 billion legal battle over their fortune, the duo fought over the validity of their prenuptial agreement, among other things. In new court documents made available in January, Nicole had accused Dr Dre of abuse, alleging that he held a gun to her head twice.
In court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Young claimed Dre had “punched me in the head/face” in 1999 and 2000 and “kicked down a door” while she hid “from his rage” in 2016.”
“Andre has verbally and emotionally decimated my personhood to the extent that I currently suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome,” she stated in the documents.
Dr Dre, however, denied the allegations, telling a court, “at no time did I ever abuse Nicole or threaten her physical safety.”
While he has maintained that the allegations are false, Dr Dre has a history of abuse and violence allegations as singer Michel’le, journalist Dee Barnes, and singer Tairrie B have accused him of abuse.
More recently, Young asked the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department to recover more than $1million from the producer.
Her legal team filed a writ of execution against her ex-husband, who she accused of defying a court order to pay $1,224,607 in past legal fees and only opting to pay $300,000 towards the bill.
