The Police Service under the leadership of the IGP, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare on Monday mitigated the effect of the nation-wide strike action by commercial drivers on stranded commuters by transporting some of them.
The Service's buses were used to transport the commuters to their various destinations while others were alighted at vantage points to enable them continue the journey.
Many were pleased by the gesture as it relieved them of the stress they went through while stranded for several hours.
The Police Service also gave the stranded commuters bottles of water to refresh themselves.
Taking to social media, some citizens extolled the Police Service for its remarkable efforts to assuage the plight of commuters during their moment of need.

Meanwhile, the coalition of commercial transport owners made up of 16 transport unions – including the biggest group, the GPRTU has suspended its strike following a meeting with government at the Jubilee House.
Speaking on News Night, on Monday, Spokesperson for the Concerned Drivers Association, David Agbado said the transport operators are hoping that the government will at least scrap some taxes on fuel.
“We are hoping for only one thing. We are calling on the government to scrap some taxes on fuel. It is the taxes that made the build-up higher and then the cost of fuel higher. If the taxes have been scrapped at least, the fuel price will be reduced and it will help all of us,” he said.
The coalition wants government to scrap taxes like the Price Stabilisation and Recovery Levy, Special Petroleum Tax, the Energy Recovery Debt Levy and the Sanitation levy.
