The South Africa Football Association (SAFA) on Wednesday, November 17, held a press conference to detail their observations from their final group game against Ghana in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Bafana Bafana lads were beaten at the Cape Coast Stadium by the Black Stars on Sunday, November 14, with skipper Andre Ayew firing into the net from the penalty spot.
However, the South Africans have lodged a complaint to the World’s highest governing body of football, Fifa, to investigate the performance of the match officials on the day.
The South Africa Football Association have gone ahead to detail some of their concerns from the Senegalese referee, Maguette Ndiaye’s performance as they await a response from Fifa.
Here is a summary from the presser held on Wednesday, November 17;
• Danny Jordaan, SAFA President, says there is a huge suspicion that the match was fixed. Claims he can prove betting spikes before major refereeing decisions were made.
• Rushine De Reuck, a defender, alleges decisions were already decided before the game started, claiming the referee promised to book him before the game started.
• Bafana coach Hugo Broos says he told his assistant that South Africa will lose the game after the 15 minutes, following poor refereeing decisions.
• Former referee Ace Ncobo says his independent analysis proves 90.9% of decisions went against Bafana. Says his analysis proves the bulk of poor decisions came in the first half.
• SAFA have filed a complaint to Fifa but are yet to receive a response. They are confident of getting a replay.
