It is a great day for contestants and supporters of St Augustine's College nationwide as the all-male school trampled upon their rivals in the one-eighth stage of the 2021 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).
St. Thomas Aquinas promised to be a worthy contender, and Anlo SHS were no match for the two-time champions, Augusco, as Attah Prince, and Adjaho George displayed their prowess and zeal.
Augusco's dominance could not be suppressed despite efforts by the 2013 champion based in Cantonments-Osu.
Taking to social media just as Round Two came to an end, proud students and supporters of St Augustine's College started jubilating over their projected victory. This is because Augusco had doubled the points of St. Thomas Aquinas at the end of the Speed Race in the second round.

Holding on to whatever hope there was, some supporters of St. Thomas Aquinas believed that the battle was over only when the bones are rotten.
St. Thomas Aquinas will come back or they'll deaf? #NSMQinKumasi

But this was short-lived after the end of Round 4. At this point, St Augustine's College had led the contest with 61 points. Its closest contender, St. Thomas Aquinas, secured 38 points. Anlo SHS was still finding its balance in the contest.
According to some users, Aquinas should throw in the towel and return to Accra to do what they are best known for - engage in "jamma".
Me ankasa I didn’t expect St Thomas Aquinas to win against Augusco so make them hurry up , come Accra and shii jama

St Augustine's College qualified for the quarter-final stage with 64 points.
It is another unsuccessful attempt by the contestants of St. Thomas Aquinas to repeat the achievement of their predecessors in 2013.
For Augusco, their undoubted quest to grab the trophy from defending champions Presec-Legon should echo loudly in the ears of all contenders after their gargantuan victory on Monday, November 15.
