Government’s spokesperson on infrastructure, Kojo Frimpong has donated 2,130 pieces of mathematical sets to the Wenchi Municipal Education Directorate in the Bono region.
The mathematical sets worth ¢14,910 are expected to be distributed to all candidates in the municipality preparing for this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The presentation forms part of measures to ensure that no candidate lacked the basic learning inputs required for the BECE.
Making the presentation on behalf of government’s spokesperson on infrastructure, a team led by Alhaji Iddris Mahama, said the mathematical sets were being donated to boost the candidate’s preparedness.
He emphasised the avowed commitment of Mr. Frimpong towards the pursuit of quality education within the Wenchi Municipality.
Alhaji Mahama, therefore, advised the candidates to eschew examination malpractices to avoid the cancellation of their papers.
"I appeal to BECE candidates to prepare very well to avoid practices that will truncate their education because if they are caught cheating in the examination hall, their papers will be cancelled and that will not be too good for their ambitions,” he stressed.
Receiving the items for the BECE candidates, the Wenchi Municipal Director of Ghana Education Service (GES), Mary Nyarko Adu Twum, commended the benevolence of Mr. Frimpong and his team, adding the gesture was timely.
“This intervention has drastically reduced our burden since there are some parents who could not afford three square meal let alone provide mathematical set for BECE.
My sincere hope is these learning inputs will aid my candidates across the municipality to perform creditably,” she said.
Junior High School (JHS) final year students across the country will start writing their BECE from Monday, November 15 to Friday, November 19, 2021.
