The Accra Metropolitan Assembly's Health and Sanitation inspectors under the Joycleanghana Campaign on Wednesday stormed the Agbogbloshie market in Accra to enforce the newly launched 'Operation Clean Your Frontage.'
When the team got to the market, some traders had displayed vegetables on wooden pallets which have been used to cover choked gutters.
The smelly waste water from the gutter had overflowed to where the traders had displayed their wares.
The health inspectors led by Madam Florence Kuukyi pointed out to the traders that it is an offence to operate under the conditions in which they were trading.
Madam Kuukyi therefore ordered them to clean the area. They also desilted the gutter.
