A 16-year-old girl has allegedly been attacked by a man said to be a herder over dam water at Yipale in the West Gonja district of the Savannah Region.
According to eyewitnesses, Sunday's incident reportedly occurred when the girl had an altercation with the suspect who had brought his cattle to drink water from the dam.
The victim, who was in the company of her friends, advised him to wait for a while since they were washing.
The girls explained that the cattle would turn the water in the dam muddy.
However, the herder wouldn’t listen, and this resulted in an exchange of words.
The eyewitness said this agitated the man, and he pulled out a cutlass and hit one of the girls head.
The victim was subsequently rushed to the West Gonja Government Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
The Assembly member for Yipale said the case is yet to be reported to the Police.
