A global technology company, Xiaomi (MI) has officially launched an office in Ghana.
Being the first office in West Africa, the company held a plush event at its Spintex office to commemorate the entry on Saturday, October 16.
The Chinese company is known for smart accessories including phones, earpieces, television, routers, headphones, rice cookers, electronic toothbrushes, and many more.
Interacting with the media, the Chief Executive of DeviceTech, Hassan Mikati said MI products are affordable and their quality cannot be matched to any piece of equipment.
He mentioned that Ghanaians have welcomed the products since many people were using the product before the official launch.
He was, therefore optimistic that the brand has "come to stay".
"It will be a very good impact because the prices cannot be matched. We are number one in Europe, we are number one in Asia and we will be number one in Africa.
“This brand is a very high earned, packaging wise, specification wise and everything. So quality-wise, our brand is much better and they can’t compete,” he said.
Mr Mikati further mentioned that the piloting stage will engage telecommunication networks that to sell some of the company’s accessories.
The Saturday event attracted a lot of tech enthusiasts who were open to exploring the smart accessories of MI.
As a phone dealer, Emmanuel Aning said he has been waiting for the brand to come to Ghana for a very long time.
He believed that the brand is a good and strong brand that will penetrate the technology market of the country.
“I have been selling their phones for a while and so far I have not received any negative feedback from any customer here. So I think people will be happy to know Xiaomi is in Ghana and will look forward to using it,” he said.
Xiaomi is a Chinese company that has had its products highly purchased in European and Asian countries.
Aside from the Spintex branch, the managers say that plans are underway to set up others in Osu, Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Accra Mall and Odum in Kumasi.
