Kuntenanse Chief reports contractor to Akufo-Addo

Chief of Kuntenanse in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region, Barima Amankwaah Adunan Ababio, has urged President Akufo-Addo to ensure construction of the Kumasi-Bosomtwe road continues after his visit.

Construction of the road stalls intermittently since it started in 2018 because the contractor abandons the road.

Barima Amankwaah Adunan Ababio attested to the return of the contractor in the past few days. But he said unless the necessary action is taken, the contractor, Kofi Job Construction, will be sacked from site.

"You awarded the road for construction in 2018, the contractor came in April 2019. The contractor comes on site for about a week and packs out. Today, I have seen his trucks parked along the road. I think it is because of the President's visit, he will soon park out", he told the President".

On the second day of the President's visit to the Ashanti Region, residents of Atwima Boko expressed their dissatisfaction over the continued stalling of the Kwadaso-Trabuom road project.

On the third day of the President's visit, when works on the Bosomtwe Road was inspected, construction trucks numbering about 20, were seen lined up on the road, a sign of active work on site.

The road is largely not tarred, making it dusty, thus making it challenging for businesses to operate.

Due to the deplorable state of the road, some residents have complained about respiratory ailments. It is almost not motorable during the rainy season. Also, bridges on the road are halfway complete, making usage difficult.

President Akufo-Addo in response to the Chief's request explained that his government has made massive investments in road development in Ashanti Region.

He however acknowledged that financing these roads is a major challenge his government is facing.

"If you start every project from point zero and make progress to point 4, it is difficult for people to notice. I came to meet point zero that's why you are still complaining. We can't fix all at once due to financing but before I leave the presidency the road will be done", the President said.
