Newly confirmed District Chief Executive (DCE) for Asikuma Odobeng Brakwa, Lawrence Edutuah Asiaw, says he’s unfazed by the name-calling that his mother begged for alms on the street before putting him through school.
He said he’s rather proud of the struggles she went through before bringing him to the point that he’s been confirmed as the DCE.
The 29-year-old disclosed that his mother did not have the money at the time and decided to use an avenue to solicit funds to cater for his education.
He is grateful that this empowered him to make something of his life and graduate to become the district’s representative.
Mr Edutuah Asiaw replied to his critics, “I don’t have any problem with those who use social media to criticise me that my mother begged for alms to buy food for me and that I don’t deserve to be a DCE.”
He continued, “in his life, God prepares people to shine lights in your path, and my mother is one shining example of a person who moved all odds to ensure I received what she was not privileged to have. That’s the essence of humanity.”
Mr Asiaw received a 100% endorsement of the valid votes cast by the Assembly members and expressed gratitude to all who played a role in nominating and, consequently, confirming him.
The nominee was one of the 22 aspirants eyeing for the DCE position in Asikuma Odobeng Brakwa, thanked the President for the trust reposed in him.
“I will not disappoint my mum, myself, the President and the entire District for this honour done me to serve them. I will do it with all the energy God has gifted me.
Lawrence Edutuah Asiaw holds a bachelor’s degree in education.
