Residents of Atwima-Boko in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region staged a protest on their bad roads as President Akufo-Addo visited the area.
They are displeased the contractor working on the road upgrade only returned to the site due to the President's visit.
According to the residents, they fear construction will stall again after the President's four-day tour of the region.
The road upgrade which started in 2019 was expected to be completed in two years. The 16.2 kilometre Kwadaso to Trabuom road was awarded to Asabea Engineering Limited.
In November 2020, Roads Minister, Kwasi Amoako-Atta assured the roads will be fixed on time after traditional leaders complained about the delay.
Earlier this year, the residents blocked the major road for hours in a demonstration to register their displeasure.
The road remains dusty and bumpy affecting free flow of traffic. The contractor has so far undertaken some initial works.
The construction firm has, however, stated that it has cleared the road, demolished existing concrete structures, excavated unsuitable materials, done pipe works and primer sealing works.
Managing Director of Asabea Engineering Limited, Samuel Ofori Larbi, said they are committed to ensuring the road is done.
The inspection of the road by President Akufo-Addo did not restrain the youth from demonstrating.
Meanwhile, the President, in response to the Chief of Akropong, Nana Appiah Sarfo Kantanka's concerns on the poor roads, has assured it will receive the due attention.
"I have received requests from the people for roads and it has been accepted. We have awarded some roads to contractors but I think they have issues with financing. We will do well to deal with the problem", he said.
President Akufo-Addo as part of his four-day tour of the Ashanti Region visited Darko Farms Limited, inspected the John Agyekum Kufuor Senior High School at Dabaa and the Sofoline-Abuakwa road project.
