Participatory Development Associates (PDA) Limited is establishing an oil processing mill at Kunsu in the Ashanti Region, to provide jobs and support for farmers.

The community development organization expects the mill to provide employment to about 200 residents. The move by the Participatory Development Associates (PDA) feeds into the government's Green Ghana initiative.

Selected schools in the Ahafo Ano South West District benefited from the first phase of the tree-planting project.

About 200 trees were planted in two schools for the first phase of the project.

"Our intention is to plant one hectare of trees in phases in the Ahafo Ano South West District. We've selected some schools for the first phase of the project," Managing Director of PDA, Edem Agbe noted.

According to Mr. Agbe, the establishment of the oil processing mill at Kunsu will provide ready-market for farmers and create jobs along the value-chain.

"We've established an oil processing mill in Kunsu which is not fully complete. The mill can employ about two hundred people directly working at the factory floor The factory  will also help  farmers improve on their palm plantation," he hinted.

PDA Ghana is also planting one hectare of trees in the Ahafo Ano South West District in commemoration of its 20th anniversary.

Books were also donated to four schools in the district as part of PDA’s celebration. The Ahafo Ano South West Education Director, Alfred Kojo Boateng lauded the initiative of the organization.

"The books supplied by PDA are really  going to help in teaching and learning activities," Alfred Kojo Boateng said.
