The General Secretary of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Janet Asana Nabla has petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police to investigate David Asibi Apasera and Moses Dani Baah for alleged financial malfeasance.
The two were both suspended by the National Executive Committee of the party for allegedly misappropriating party funds.
In the petition, Janet Nabla alleges that GH₵1.7 million raised to support the party in the 2020 election were withdrawn and spent without her knowledge and approval.
She explained that “This act was in clear violation of Article 49(b)(8) which requires that a NEC meeting is held to deliberate on issues concerning elections, fundraising, management of funds for the national elections both for the presidential and parliamentary candidates including strategizing and executing the campaigns for both the Presidential candidate and the parliamentary candidates of the party."
“An amount of GH₵150,000.00 was raised to pay party offices’ rent across the country, this amount was deposited in the party’s account where Mr Apasera and Mr. Dani Baah have withdrawn the amount without the knowledge of the Secretary and have not used the money for the intended purpose. The two are in possession of the party’s cars and it is our request that you assist the party to retrieve the cars.
She also provided the phone contacts of the two, “Messrs David Asibi Apasera and Moses Dani Baah mobile phone numbers are 0244 220 332 and 0249 684 180 respectively."
"Attached are the supporting documents to help you carry on with the investigation. The party is hopeful that your august institution would investigate the two and prosecute them accordingly,” Janet Asana Nabla wrote in the petition.
