The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) has presented 150 tables and chairs worth ₵50,000 to the Akuafo Hall of the University of Ghana, Legon in support of the renovation of the Hall towards the advancement of its academic activities.

Presenting the furniture to the Akuafo Hall Executives at the University of Ghana, Legon, the Managing Director of ADB, Dr. John Kofi Mensah said the donation of the tables and chairs was in response to a request by the Hall Executives for assistance to meet the inadequate resources of the Hall.

 “The Bank has provided assistance to the university over the years and when the Akuafo Hall Executives called on us, we saw it as a privilege to once again offer financial assistance towards their furniture project which we know will improve teaching and learning conditions”, he said.

The ADB Managing Director said the donation was also part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility to help improve the educational welfare of the students.

Dr. Kofi Mensah disclosed that the bank has opened a branch on campus to make banking accessible to the lecturers, students on campus and residents around the Legon environs as well as to provide superior banking service.  

“We are expanding our branch network to bring banking closer to the general public and I am happy to say our Legon branch has been opened and operational to serve you better”, he said.

He was optimistic the establishment of the Legon Branch will further enhance the relationship between the Bank and the University Community.  

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Hall, the Hall Master, Dr. Clement Appah thanked the bank for the donation, which will help the students in the Hall and the University in General.

“We thank the Board, Management and Staff of ADB for the kind gesture which is coming at a time when we have some of our students reporting to campus soon,” he said.

Dr. Appah indicated that the furniture will be used for its intended purposed of easing the pressure on the living and learning spaces for students.

Dr. Clement Appah, thanked ADB for being a long-standing benefactor of students of the Hall and lauded the consistency of support from ADB and how such donations have greatly helped students through their tertiary education.

“As hall and management, we believe we can help the University by going out to look for funds to meet the needs of the students”, Dr. Appah noted.

He disclosed that the commonalities of celebrating Ghanaian farmers, shared by both Akuafo Hall and ADB makes them great partners.

The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Godfred Bopkin, expressed immense appreciation to ADB for the kind gesture and looked forward to more fruitful collaborations in subsequent years.
