The Law on JoyNews today takes on the topic 'Defiled Girls: Punishment and Protection'.
The Sexual Offenses Act says "a person who commits an act which causes penetration, with a child, is guilty of an offence termed defilement. A person who commits an offence of defilement with a child aged eleven years or less shall upon conviction, be sentenced to imprisonment for life.'
Also, "a person who commits an offence of defilement with a child between the ages of sixteen and eighteen years, is liable, upon conviction, to imprisonment for a term of not less than fifteen years."
The host of The Law, Samson Lardy Anyenini and his guests discuss the punishment for anyone who defiles young people.
The panel will also discuss ways to protect young girls who have had to go through such an unfortunate plight.
