The Ghana Health Service (GHS) in its latest update on the fight against Covid-19 has revealed that 7,024 active cases have been recorded.
The surge in such cases has been on the increase since July.
One hundred and forty-one active cases out of the total recorded as of August 25, are severe whiles 54 persons are in critical condition.
Also, 630 new cases have been recorded. Cumulatively, the country's total confirmed Covid-19 cases stand at 118,266.
Despite the significant number of cases recorded, some 110,225 individuals who tested positive for the virus have recovered, hence have been discharged.
Unfortunately, deaths related to the virus have also increased. Data from the Ghana Health Service revealed that 1,017 persons have died since Ghana recorded its first case in March last year.
Meanwhile, the (GHS) will from today, Tuesday, August 31, begin the administration of the second dose of AstraZeneca vaccines to persons 18 years and above.
Those eligible to partake in this immunisation exercise are those who received their first dose of vaccine from March 10 to March 29, this year.
Such persons are encouraged to come along with their Covid-19 Vaccination Card and a valid National ID Card, else risk the chance of not being vaccinated.
