Country Lead for Ecofridges Go, Eric Antwi-Adjei, has encouraged Ghanaians particularly, salary workers, to take advantage of the new initiative.
Ecofridges Go is a joint initiative between the government of Ghana through the Energy Commission and the United Nations Environment Programme.
The initiative aims to promote the use of energy-efficient cooling appliances, that is, fridges, freezers and air conditioners, among salary workers who acquire the equipment now and pay later at a zero per cent interest rate.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Mr Antwi-Adjei said the initiative is cost-effective and environment friendly.
“People should definitely go and take this opportunity; it doesn’t come always. But, for once, we have access to the most efficient appliances, 5-star rated electronic appliances on the market through this initiative.
“So I will encourage all and sundry to go in for it,” he told host Winston Amoah.
On his part, the Senior Programmes Officer at the Energy Commission, Hubert Zan, indicated a web app has been created to make it easy for interested people to access and subscribe to the initiative.
“You can sit at the comfort of your home, go to EcofrigdesGo website and you will see a list of models qualified for this project through that online shop; you can select the model you want.
“But most importantly, you will choose whether you are going to pay cash through the system or you will go through the partner banks, and the application process will start from there,” he said.
