Messi cries as he bids farewell to Barcelona FC

Sunday, August 8, is officially a sad day for all Barcelona fans across the world as their all-time favourite player referred to as the "God Of All Times (GOAT)", Lionel Andres Messi bids farewell to the football club.

When news broke that Messi would no longer play alongside his teammates at Camp Nou, fans were devastated. But Messi, personally bidding farewell to the club at a press conference today was not something many were mentally prepared for.

As tears run down his cheeks, Messi narrated how he reacted when he received the sad message: "My blood run cold. It was really sad and difficult. I am still trying to process it. The important thing is that we are okay. It’s a bit difficult but we need to move on."

"I’m leaving the club without seeing the fans for over a year and a half. If I imagined it, I would imagine Camp Nou full and say goodbye properly! But unfortunately, it has to be this way!"

Social media users have been left shattered with many flooding Twitter with their comments after witnessing Messi break down to tears as he talked of how he was still processing his departure.

For many, this is a huge blow as the living legend was unable to play with his team for the final time.

All across the world, fans are sympathising with the Barcelona Football Club as they shared 20 years of their lives with Messi.

Although it is a sad day for many, those who earnestly wait to see Messi join PSG could not hide their happiness.
