The Strategic Youth Network for Development (SYND) has recognized personalities who will be representing Ghana at this year’s Youth4Climate event in Italy.
The September event comes off ahead of the Conference of Parties (COP) 26 to be jointly hosted by Italy and the United Kingdom (UK) later in November.
The delegates are SYND’s Patience Agyekum and Climate Reality Leader, Daniel Awomnab who doubles as the National Focal Person for Team 54 Project International.
Patience is also the Climate Change Focal Point as well as the Policy Team Lead at SYND.
An August 5 statement from the SYND team expressed confidence that Ms Agyekum’s participation “in this conference will further build her capacity and help her to contribute to the climate change discourse in Ghana and beyond.”
The Pre-COP programme is organised for 400 young activists across the world to put forward ideas on how the youth can contribute to ways to mitigate and adapt to climate change through the presentation of proposals among others.
It will ensure that the perspective of the youth is heavily inculcated in ensuring a cleaner and safer planet.
The event will take place from 28 to 30th September 2021 in Milan.
COP 26 will be attended by the countries that signed the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) – a treaty that came into force in 1994.
This is the 26th COP summit and will be hosted in partnership between the UK and Italy. The conference will be held in Glasgow from 1-12 November 2021, a year later than planned due to delays caused by the COVID pandemic.
SYND Ghana is a youth-oriented non-governmental organization that promotes Youth inclusion in the governance of the Natural Resources and Environmental (NRE) sector.
It operates in four thematic areas namely Forestry, Climate Change, Biodiversity and Energy Access. It is also the Convener of the Youth in Natural Resources and Environmental Governance (Youth-NREG) Platform as well as the West Africa Regional Node for ACCESS Coalition.
