Huawei has assured Ghanaians of its continuous support to continue on its project of knowledge sharing and providing attractive incentive packages for Ghanaians.
The Deputy Managing Director, Kweku Essuman Quansah, said this during a virtual meeting at the graduation ceremony of some 1,500 students from the Huawei ICT Academy.
The Huawei ICT Academy launched in 2017 is geared towards harnessing and developing Ghana’s ICT talents.
Through strategic partnerships with 16 top universities as authorized ICT academies in Ghana, Huawei has trained over 5,000 university students and certified 2000+ in the latest ICT technologies as part of its commitment to the government of Ghana to train 10,000 Ghanaians by 2024.
In 2019, Huawei introduced the Huawei Student Ambassadors Program to groom ICT talents across the various Huawei Authorized academies in Ghana, share acquired knowledge with students, and assist instructors in training more talents.
The Deputy Managing Director stated that “This year, that is, January to June 2021, through the hard work of our abled instructors and ambassadors who represent Huawei at the various universities in Ghana, we have successfully trained 1,500 students and certified 800 of them in HCIA-Security which is the first of its kind in the country and HCIA-Routing and Switching.
“To ensure that our students are abreast with the latest technologies which are also industry-relevant, Huawei has trained over 20 lecturers from various universities in Ghana in Data Communications and Data Storage, which will be officially rolled out across all our partner universities early next year.
He added that “Ladies and gentlemen, the 800 students certified was done within the first half of the year, that is, January to June 2021, which is an achievement worth celebrating as currently through the good work of our ambassadors and lecturers, Ghana ranks 1st in the Sub Saharan region.”
To encourage more students to join the academy, Huawei introduced the Ambassadors awards ceremony “to reward outstanding ambassadors, students, and instructors for their effort and motivate them to perform better.”
This year, 35 ambassadors were awarded at the ceremony.
Kweku Essuman Quansah said, “On behalf of Huawei, we would like to thank you all for your continuous support and for choosing to partner with us.
“We would like to entreat ambassadors, lecturers, and HODs whom we couldn’t have achieved this without to continue working harder on the journey we have chosen together, to cultivate more ICT Talents for the development of Ghana.”
He further congratulated all award winners and everyone involved for the success chalked.
He also encouraged students and lecturers to sign up for the Huawei ICT Competition as the tech company embarks on a Roadshow later this year.
