Ten persons have died from Covid-19 within the Kumasi metropolis in the last two weeks.
"The new cases of the Delta variant in the metropolis were detected soon after the Christmas festivities in 2020. From July 1 to July 13, health facilities within the metropolis have recorded over 200 infection cases with 10 mortalities occurring at different treatment centres," a press statement dated July 19, issued by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) revealed.
According to the press statement, signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of KMA, Henrietta A. K. Aboagye, the upsurge of new cases, can be attributed to the massive disregard for Covid-19 protocols.
The KMA, therefore, encouraged members of the general public to adhere to the Covid-19 safety protocols.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has revealed that the country's active Covid-19 cases stand at 2,858, while 382 new cases have been recorded.
So far, the death toll stands at 812.
