Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey has disclosed that the traders who were relocated from Agbogbloshie to Adjen Kotoku, will be medically screened.
This is to ensure that they are healthy to undertake their economic activities. The health screening has been necessitated by the fact that the traders have been in the smoke-filled environment for several years, aside the stench associated with Agbogbloshie.
Speaking to Host of Joy FM's Super Morning Show, Kojo Yankson, Mr Henry Quartey said arrangements are underway to get health officials to screen them.
After over 20 years of plying their trade there, he said that the stench and smoke may have had some impact on their health.
"So it is only proper that we try and do some health screening for them. So that in case as a result of having been here there’s anything that has to be done for them the Central Government would ensure that it is done," he said.
On July, onion traders, livestock rearers and scrap dealers at Agbogbloshie were relocated to Adjen Kotoku.
This exercise formed part of the Greater Accra Regional Minister’s decongestion exercise dubbed, ‘Let’s Make Accra Work.’
