Security Expect, Adam Bonaa has said that he is not surprised about the robbery incident involving a bullion Van that occurred at Adedenkpo, near James town on Monday.
"I am not surprised about the surge in robbery cases because the signals were written on the wall prior to this," he explained.
The incident lead to the death of a police officer, Emmanuel Osei and a hawker, Afua Badu.
"My condolences to the bereaved family. I believe most police officers in this country are not happy with what has happened," the Security Expert commiserated.
According to him, the incident occurred because armed robbers, earlier, got away with robbing right in front of the Inspector General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh's office.
Adam Bonaa advised personnel of the security services to make use of footages from CCTV cameras fixed in every traffic intersection across the region to identify and bring the perpetrators to book.
"When that daring robbery took place in front of the IGP’s office, my questions were that what is happening in this country that we are not aware of because we have CCTV cameras littered in almost every junction and corner of the region.
"If the CCTV cameras are probably not within the domain of the police to monitor the footages of crime events, I believe that they can coordinate with the national security or whoever has the videos for us to see," Mr Bonaa told Evans Mensah on JoyNews' PM Express.
On June 14, 2021, the late Emmanuel Osei and Afua Badu, were attacked by a group of armed robbers who trailed the bullion van in a taxi and on a motorbike and upon arrival at a less crowded location, fired indiscriminately, killing them instantly.
Meanwhile, the IGP, James Oppong-Boanuh has pledged that no stone will be left unturned in his quest to ensure the killers of Constable General, Emmanuel Osei, are arrested.
He added that the police have deployed many security personnel on the roads to intensify patrols. The Police Service has also placed a bounty of GHC20,000 on the heads of the armed robbers.
