CCTV footage from a hotel in Accra has disclosed the final moments of a 23-year-old student-journalist who was allegedly stabbed to death by her female friend at the facility.
The deceased, Priscilla Tsegah, had lodged in the hotel for two days.
The student's body was found in the hotel room after her family had declared her missing, and mounted a search for her.
She was allegedly stabbed in her lower abdomen by the female friend she lodged in the hotel with, whose name has been given only as Natashia.
In a CCTV footage that was aired on Adom TV‘s Ahosepe Xtra over the weekend, Natashia was seen leaving the hotel premises wearing the deceased's clothes to disguise herself.
She locked the door to the room and took the key along, making it difficult for the hotel’s staff to enter.
Natashia didn’t act like she was under pressure or did anything suspicious to catch the attention of the hotel staff who watched her leave their premises.
According to the hotel staff, Natashia, the prime suspect, was the one who paid for their stay at the hotel, using her mobile money account.
The MTN number has been unreachable by the police who are investigating the case.
The Public Relations Officer of the Accra Region Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Effia Tenge, who confirmed the incident, said the police upon receiving the report, went to the hotel.
She said the local police contacted the Crime Scene Management team of the Criminal Investigations Department to go to the scene.
After examining the body, they conveyed it to the Police Hospital in Accra.
The room where the two women were lodging, has been locked for further investigations.
Mrs Tenge said the police had mounted a search for Natashia and appealed to the public to assist them with information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect.
