Government is set to roll out a free training programme for hospitality and tourism industry players affected by the Covid-19 pandemic across the country.
In a statement on Wednesday, it said the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) was, therefore, collaborating with Hotel, Catering and Tourism Training (HOTCATT) Institute to achieve the project goals.
It said the training was aimed at bridging the capacity and training gap of staff in the tourism and hospitality value chain.
The release said the training was free of charge and that participants would be provided with certificates after the successful completion of the programme.
“A prospective staff must be in the lower, middle and supervisory role of the tourism and hospitality industry.”
The courses and duration for the training include; Front Office skills, Kitchen skills, Food and Beverage skills, and Conferencing, Banqueting and Event Management skill all for four weeks, House Keeping skills, Tour Guiding skills, Restaurant Management skills, all for two weeks.
Other core subject areas for all include; Hospitality Accounting skills, Safety and Hazard Management, and French.
The release noted that prospective applicants in all the 10 former regions except Greater Accra were to register, fill the application form and submit to the GTA Regional Offices for onward submission to HOTCATT.
“Applicants in the Greater Accra Region are to pick application forms from HOTCATT Institute, at Adabraka,” it added.
