The funeral of the late Forestry Commission boss and former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie held last week, was attended by thousands of mourners including President Akufo-Addo, Vice President Bawumia and other government functionaries.
The gathering was in breach of the Imposition of Restrictions Act, 2020 (Act 1012) and Covid-19 protocols were completely disregarded. There was no physical distancing and only few people wore face masks.
The Ghana Medical Association (GMA), has in a press statement issued on June 7, 2021 demanded that the law enforcement agencies investigate and deal with the organisers of the funeral.
The President of GMA said if this is done, “it will serve as a deterrent to others who intend to endanger the public health of our nation.”
PM Express tonight discussed the 'Executive Covid law breakers: the question of consequence' at 9.00pm.
JoyNews' Evans Mensah hosted the Deputy General Secretary of Ghana Medical Association, Dr Titus Beyuo, Member of Occupy Ghana, Dr Kwaku Segbefia, Lawyer and Convenor of #FixTheCountry protest, Oliver Barker Vormawor and Public Health Expert and Leader of Global Health and Infectious Diseases Research Group at KCCR.
