Just before the players of Accra Great Olympics march onto pitch at the Accra Stadium, carrots of GH₵ 90,000 in winning bonuses will be dangled before them.
This is an upward adjustment of GH₵ 20,000 from the previous GH₵ 70,000 earlier announced.
This game which used to be one of the best subscribed derbies in the Ghana Premier League seems to have assumed a bigger dimension due to the performances of the two sides this season.
Who is behind this?
The Great Olympics playing body has had massive support from the creme of its support base this season.
On a monthly basis these fans meet the playing body and technical team and show appreciation in various ways including cash presents.
This seems to have done some magic especially with the results recorded against the giants in the Ghana Premier League.
This idea of motivating the playing body to beat their city rivals comes from some four key persons.
The McDan Groups executive chairman Dr Daniel Mckorley whose McDan La Town Park astro turf is the clubs training ground is one of the chief architects of this grand plan.
Also included are Mr Humphrey Awuletey-Williams, who is a former operations manager of the club and runs one of the biggest indigenous Ghanaian construction firms, Oswal T Construction.
Lawyer frank Davies, is a seasoned legal practitioner and has played various roles within the club over the decades.
Lawyer Gabby Asare Otchere Darko who recently recently defected to great Olympics is also a contributor to this package.
Meanwhile Joy Sports is reliably informed that some board members of Asante Kotoko have made an input since a loss for Hearts in this game will improve the chances of the Porcupine Warriors at winning the title this season.
As to whether it will have any impact on the eventual result of this derby is another conversation.
Great Olympics come into this derby code named 'Mants3 or' Ga Mashie' with confidence from their 2-0 win against Hearts in the first round of the Ghana Premier League.
