Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew will not be a Swansea player next season after the English Championship confirmed his exit on their official website following the expiration of his three-year contract.
Ayew has ended his second stint with the Liberty Stadium outfit after an initial departure in 2015 to join West Ham United before rejoining the Swans after a season stay at the London club.
He has been the club’s top scorer for the past two seasons, with 35 goals since returning from a loan spell at Fenerbahce.
Swansea failed to secure a promotion to the English Premier League after losing 2-0 to Brentford in the Championship play-off final at the Wembley stadium and it's believed the move is to reduce their financial commitments.
The club's official statement also confirmed that aside Ayew,, Kieron Freeman, Declan John and Barrie McKay will all depart the Liberty Stadium.
The 31-year-old scored 47 goals whilst providing 19 assists in 147 games and his departure may dent the chances of Swansea making the another playoff..
Ayew is expected to team up with the Black Stars who are preparing in Cape Coast for two friendly games against Morocco and Ivory Coast..
