Two former champions of the Luv FM High School Debate have been kicked out of the 3rd edition which opened in Kumasi, Monday.
The champions for 2019, St. Jerome Senior High School, was beaten by Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem Girls SHS, whilst winners of the maiden of the edition, T.I. Amass, Kumasi was whipped by Adventist Girls SHS.
The highly competitive opening contests displayed high oratory in debating, to the delight of participants who converged at the auditorium of the Christian Service University.
Speakers for T.I. Amass and Adventist Girls were articulate for and against the motion: “Media ethics breaches are to blame for the compromise of press freedom, not the government”.
The judges delivered their verdict; 204–215 in favour of Adventist Girls SHS.
The second contest for the day saw defending champions, St. Jerome SHS fall to Afia Kobi Ampem Girls.
The score was 214-236 for the motion: "The double track system has more negatives than positives".
The losing schools received a citation from The Multimedia Group and shopping vouchers from Melcom Ghana.
The next contest in the Round of 16 will be staged on Wednesday between Yaa Asantewaa Girls Senior High School and T.I. Amass, Fomena.
Opoku Ware School will also lock horns with Kumasi High School.
