The Central Regional Executive Council (REC) of the Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (GAMLS) has assured concerned medical laboratory professionals of the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital (CCTH) of their commitment to ensuring that their concerns are addressed appropriately.
Some Concerned Medical Laboratory Professionals at CCTH had written to the Council demanding the immediate removal of one Prof Ekem, her specialists, and medical officers from the CCTH medical laboratory.
In their letter to the Council dated May 25, 2021, the concerned laboratory professionals alleged illegal developments at the CCTH medical laboratory and called for swift investigation into the matter.
The Council in their response said, "We will take necessary steps to investigate this issue immediately with all the stakeholders involved and will come out with measures to address them in the shortest possible time.”
It also called on the "Laboratory Manager and the CEO as a matter of urgency to investigate and find amicable solutions to the issue, in order to avoid any further damage these worrying developments would cause in the Medical Laboratory fraternity at CCTH."
Meanwhile, the REC is urging all members to remain calm and resolute as it investigates the issue.
“We thank you for the timely information and assure you that our doors are always opened for further discussions,” it concluded.
This issue comes at a time where medical laboratories across the country have laid down their tools in solidarity with KATH Medical Laboratory professionals following an impasse with the Laboratory’s management.
