Mawuko Girls Senior High School, in the Volta Region, has progressed to the next stage of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) championship scheduled for October.
Although the girls were unable to lead during the first round of the contest, they turned the tide in their favor during the second and the third round with 05 points, 19 points, 30 points respectively.
Speaking to JoyNews, One of the contestants, Barbara Amegadzie says the victory evoked memories of years of hard work and sacrifice for an opportunity to be on the main NSMQ stage in Accra.
“I am grateful to God for bringing us this far. Our efforts have not been in vain. Expect the best from us. It feels very great, if it hadn’t been for the Lord we wouldn’t have gotten this far. We are grateful to God and Prime times for bringing us here to also our talent to the world,” she added.
Supporters of the school who also shared their views are of strong opinion that the fire set by the school cannot be doused as they hold unto the notion “ what men can do women can do better when given the opportunity”.
The contestants has pledged to work harder and elevate their points in the upcoming national competition.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Sokpoe, Torgbui Foe Tsali III has stated that authorities in the Volta Region are doing everything within their power to claiming the 2021 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) trophy.
