Schools and health facilities in Akatsi South district, as well as other institutions, continually lack adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to help in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Most schools have run out of PPEs due to the inability of the appropriate authorities to provide them with such items.
Government cannot do it alone, hence a call on individuals and organisations to help complement the government's efforts in providing these institutions enough PPEs to fight the virus.
It is in line with this need, that the Director of Human Resources at the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG), Samuel Benedict Nugblega has presented PPEs to schools, health facilities and the police in the Akatsi south to help fight Covid-19 and also improve health delivery in the District.
Mr Nugblega who is also a former Akatsi South Parliamentary aspirant, noted that relying on only the government's efforts in this critical time would not help but rather aggravate the situation.
Mr Nugblega said it was very important for individuals and organisations to help the government to enable the virus to be reduced if not totally combated.
"We need to complement the government's effort in combating this virus instead of leaving everything on the shoulders of government to do, "Mr Nugblega said.
He promised that just as he does four times yearly,he will continue helping the health and the education sectors as well as other institutions.
Akatsi South Health Director, Dr Gourge Nyarko and a Deputy Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES) in charge of administration and finance, in the Municipality, Mr Clemence Katsekpor, who received the items on behalf of the health facilities and education services respectively, commended Mr Nugblega for his continued efforts at helping humanity.
They urged others to emulate the kind gesture and also send their donations. Mr Katsekpor promised to put the items to good use.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Leo Nelson Adzidogah reiterated the government's commitment at making sure that PPEs and other items are given to the various facilities in the Municipality and beyond
