Social media users have expressed mixed reactions following the arrest, and subsequent release, of a journalist with Accra-based Citi FM, Caleb Kudah.
According to reports, Mr Kudah was detained for unlawfully filming a video at the premises of the National Security Ministry.
After detaining the Back Page host, about seven heavily armed officers stormed the premises of the Adabraka-based station in a Rambo-style with the intention to whisk away his colleague, Zoe Abu-Baidoo whom they claimed had received files from Caleb Kudah.
When the news became public knowledge, social media users are unhappy with how the arrest was carried out.
Others said, Mr Kudah should have known better and not film a security sensitive area.
Well , I just heard the other side of National security and I can say it’s Caleb who didn’t try at all . He was not supposed to lie about having the appointment . He could have just introduced himself as a journalist

Filming a National Security Installation without consent, is wrong.

But rifle wielding men storming a media house to chase people around in this Rambo style is unacceptable. For God's sake stop these needless show of bravado. Stop this "I'll show you where power lies" attitude
When you have national security personnels who abuse citizens, you erode public confidence in law enforcement. That makes the job of good officers unsafe.#CitiCBS #FixMotherGhanaNow

Honestly we need to talk to National Security the way they do things, BUT A VERY BIG BUT , we can’t allow people to take the piss.
How are you at a national security instalment taking a video without permission.
That’s so wrong .— . (@SPOPO_A_K) May 12, 2021
If Caleb was doing his job as a journalist, wasn’t the national security also doing their job? If the national security breached the law in detaining him, Caleb should sue them #JoySMS

So Caleb and Zoe were called by National Security and they refused to report?

You think Caleb kudah would have dared to secretly film at the premises of the US embassy in Ghana? Let's respect our State Institutions. This is the National Security we are talking about.#RespectStateInstitutions

National Security went to Citi FM to arrest @ZABaidoo but Citi management prevented them and rather accompanied her to the national security

When did filming National Security vehicles become a crime in Ghana? Article 19(11) of the 1992 Constitution says “no person shall be convicted for a criminal offence unless the offence is defined and the penalty for it is prescribed in a written law”#FreeCalebKudahNow

What prevented the National Security authorities from simply inviting Zoe without the needless raiding? Do we really wanna grow as a country with a democratic setting? #CitiCBS
