The CEO of McDan Group of Companies, Daniel McKorley, has bemoaned the disloyal attitude of some Ghanaian employees towards their work and employers.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show Thursday, the business mogul attributed the failure of most indigenous businesses to dishonest employees who often steal from their employers or only serving their parochial interest.
He stated that the act which seems to be entrenched in the social upbringing of citizens forces entrepreneurs to choose the service of foreigners to that locals.
“The foreigners work very well. You look around the whole country, those companies doing well are the ones being controlled by foreigners; they are either Lebanese, Indian or another foreigner.
“The sensitive positions are run by the foreigners...I have the same in my company, it as if [dishonesty] is in our DNA,” he told hosts Winston Amoah and Kojo Yankson.
Mr McKorley further added that the dishonest attitude also impedes the growth of many companies since the founder of the institution cannot delegate works without constantly inspecting project.
“We entrepreneurs we give opportunities and we trust too much also and you have to do that before your business can grow because you cannot be everywhere.
“All I look out for in my business is to give Ghanaians opportunities, but 70% will let you down,” he said.
Noting that Ghana will continue to lag behind in the industrial sector, the McDan CEO urged the citizenry to turn into a new leaf.
According to him, “if about 50% should change their attitude, Ghana will be like heaven.”
