The Volta Regional Director of Education, Enyonam Afi Amafuga has implored teachers and management of second cycle schools to look out for early signs of occultism and homosexual acts among students.
According to her, this would help nib the act, which is showing its head in the Ghanaian society, in the bud at an early age.
She was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a newly constituted board for the Awudome Senior High School at Tsito in the Ho West District of the Volta Region.
“We keep quiet over them but they are going on. If such matters come to us, we have to handle them with care because we want to curb them. We wouldn't want it to stay among our students”, she said.
She urged the new board members to carefully study the Board’s constitution and guidelines to avoid interfering with the legitimate functions of the headmaster.

She indicated that “may I charge the new board to look at this issue critically and take bold steps to ensure the general performance of Awudome SHS rises to a level we can all be very proud of in the immediate future.”
She, however, advised the students to “strive hard to succeed” and not waste time on irrelevant things which they will regret in the future.
She commended the AWUSCO Parent Teacher Association on its commitment and contribution to the development of the school and implored their counterparts to emulate same.
The Headmaster of AWUSCO, Courage Meteku, lauded the role of the outgoing board in improving infrastructure and other ancillary facilities on the campus.
