Bono Regional Minister, Justina Owusu-Banahene

Bono Regional Minister, Justina Owusu-Banahene has said the Regional Security Council will collaborate with other stakeholders to enforce the Covid-19 safety protocols, especially during the Easter festivities.

She said together with the Interior Ministry and the Ghana Police Service, they will ensure efforts are sustained, in compliance with the directives of President Akufo-Addo.

In a press statement, the Minister, who is also the Chairperson of the Bono Regional Security Council, further directed all Municipalities, and District Assemblies (MDAs) to collaborate with their respective Police Commanders and other security apparatus to ensure that all pubs, including swimming pools in the region, remain closed until further notice.

The MDAs are also directed to constantly engage the operators of spots/pubs, ensure heavy security presence to ensure compliance at all times, while all other public places should also have handwashing facilities to facilitate the adherence of the covid-19 protocols.

She noted, the MDAs should ensure those who violate the instructions are arrested and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.

She, however, charged every stakeholder in the region to be part of this campaign and stay away from social spots to save lives and curb the spread of Covid-19.

The Regional Minister reminded the public that though some group of persons have had the Covid-19 vaccine in the region, it is not a guarantee against COVID-19 infection, and as such, all laid down measures should still be observed.

She, therefore, urged the public to observe the Easter Festivities moderately.

Meanwhile, with road accidents often rife during festivities, the Bono Regional Minister appealed to drivers to avoid overspending to ensure an incident-free Easter celebration.

Justina Owusu-Banahene further advised the public against excessive alcohol intake and implored them to be cautious about their food intake to ensure they don't consume expired food products.

She said, the strict adherence to these directives would ensure that the residents of the Bono Region and their visitors have a memorable and safe Easter Festivities.
