The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has responded to various complaints from water consumers in the country.
This follows initial complaints from customers over a sharp increase in their water bills.
According to Acting Chief Manager (Commercial), Mrs. Cynthia Ackah who spoke on Tuesday's edition of the Super Morning Show, the challenges may be as a result of faults in metres of the consumer.
Responding to a complaint from one Nana Yaw in Dansoman who indicated that he started receiving high bills after meters in Mrs Ackah stated that "smart meters as their name suggest are smart. They pick up leakages, so whatever happens in the premises it will pick up," she said.
She further directed consumers who encounter such challenges to report to the nearest GWCL office for investigations to be conducted or call the water service provider on toll free line 08004000.
