The Akyem Oda District Magistrate Court has granted a no-cost bail to one Kofi Adu, a bodyguard to the DCE of Asene-Manso-Akroso who reportedly assaulted a Planning Officer in the district.
The suspect in an assault against Benjamin Quarcoo was on Tuesday granted a personal recognizance bail after pledging to appear in court upon request.
His Honour Justice Kwasi Apiatse Abaidoo who presided over the hearing gave the ruling after DCE Alex Incoom produced his bodyguard in court after a bench warrant was issued a week ago against Kofi Adu.
According to the police, Kofi Adu declined several invitations to assist in investigations, a decision they believe Mr Alex Incoom on whose orders the suspect allegedly acted, took to shield him from the law.
The Planning Officer, Benjamin Quarcoo in his statement has blamed Mr Incoom for orchestrating the assault against him following his return to work after leave.
Narrating the ordeal he suffered at the hands of his attackers, Mr Quarcoo explained that the DCE who went berserk after his return to work confronted him at the entrance of his office while ordering his guard to attack him.
He also revealed that, the DCE who assumed office two years ago has been hounding him and threatening to get rid of him from his office without any provocation.
The incident was said to have occurred in the full glare of the core staff of the District Assembly who fruitlessly restrained the DCE and his bodyguard from the brutal assault.
Following his report, His Honour Justice Kwasi Apiatse Abaidoo has directed Benjamin Quarcoo to file an official complaint against the DCE.
Meanwhile, the Akyem Oda District Magistrate Court will on April 13, 2021, resume hearing on the matter.
