Ahead of the 2020 Paralympic Games, the National Paralympic Committee (NPC) has launched a “Walk In My Shoe” initiative aimed at challenging able-bodied athletes to compete with para athletes in various sporting disciplines.
The initiative seeks to create awareness and getting the general public to appreciate the strength and prowess of para athletes.
NPC Ghana will use this initiative to promote UKAID-funded project dubbed Para Sports Against Stigma (PSAS) and use it as a digital campaign in the lead up to Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
Over the weekend, NPC-GHANA President Samson Deen took up the challenge and competed in the Para Athletics 400-metre Wheelchair Race against para sports stars Patrick Obeng, Felix Acheampong and Emmanuel Yaw Boateng.
Mr Deen has nominated Youth and Sports Minister Hon. Mustapha Ussif, The British High Commissioner to Ghana and the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana for a Goalball match against visually-impaired athletes.
