SONA 2021: Gov't to build two new psychiatric hospitals - Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has disclosed that two new psychiatric hospitals are being constructed to provide medical care to patients with a variety of mental and emotional disorders.

The President made the disclosure during the 2021 State of the Nation's Address (SONA) Tuesday.

According to him, the psychiatric hospitals will be constructed for the Middle and Northern Belts to complement the three already existing in the Greater Accra region.

Speaking during the address, he touted the achievements of his government stating that "Agenda 111" which is aimed at providing health facilities to various districts across the country as announced last year, is the biggest healthcare investment in Ghana's history.

He also made clear his intentions to revamp and improve the healthcare sector.

According to him, the rehabilitation of Effia-Nkwanta Hospital in the Western Region, is also on course.

"Construction of some of these hospitals has commenced, and will continue without interruption," he added.
