The flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has disclosed that his lawyers who represent him in the just-ended election petition offered their services to him for free.
Addressing the nation Thursday, Mr Mahama offered his sincere gratitude to his legal team for the firm support given him during the Court hearing.
"I take this opportunity to express my deep-seated appreciation to our lawyers, led by the colossus of a legal mind, Tsatsu Tsikata, for a valiant fight, which has won the admiration of many.
"Against considerable odds, they persisted and drove home our point in a manner that convinced all fair-minded observers about the just cause we had embarked on, he added.
The former President further intimated that although the case didn't go in the favour of the NDC, he was appreciative of all who played a role on his behalf during the election petition hearing.
Mr Mahama admonished all NDC partisans to hold their heads high and channel their disappointment into hard work adding that, "the NDC will survive and grow from strength to strength, the sun may have set on our hopes for the just-ended election today, but it will rise tomorrow and illuminate our path to a better outcome next time around".
This comes after Mr Mahama who lost the 2020 Presidential elections took the Electoral Commission to court, challenging the validity of results and the declaration of President Akufo-Addo as the winner.
But after almost 3 months of trial, a seven-member panel of Supreme Court Judges in a unanimous decision, on March 4, dismissed the election petition filed by the 2020 NDC Presidential Candidate.
This, according to the apex court, is because the case before it has no merit thus it will not order a re-run of the election as the petitioner sought.
