An executive member of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values is calling on ambassadors supporting LGBTQ+ groups in the country to apologise to the public.
Dr Sam Onwona Ofori on Joy News’ AM Show called on the ambassadors to publicly apologise to Ghanaians, for what he describes as an insult to their integrity.
This comes after some international diplomats attended the opening of an LGBTQ+ office in Ghana and pledged their support for the group.
The Australian High Commissioner and the Danish Ambassador were at the January 31 event which has been heavily criticised by a cross-section of Ghanaians including anti-gay rights advocate, National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values.
The group’s office in Accra has since been shut down following a plethora of criticisms from a cross-section of Ghanaians.
Commenting on the actions of the diplomats, Dr Ofori said, “They have done this on purpose, and must come to the general public as they went to the public to support the LGBTQ and apologise to us because they have insulted our integrity and our cultural sanctity.”
He further added, “No Ambassador can go into a country without knowing what they like and what they dislike.”
He, therefore, see these acts by Ambassadors is deliberate and so they must come out to apologise to Ghanaians.
