The president of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors, Dr John Amaglo has called on government to pass a Survey Council Bill to regulate surveying business in the country.
According to him, the Institution is keen on ensuring professionalism in the practice of land surveying and have therefore called on stakeholders to fight for resilient surveying practice in Ghana to ensure that land issues do not hinder development.
“We want to welcome the government, religious bodies, banks, businesses houses, farmers, fishermen and all others to the party of surveying. We have eaten off the crumbs fallen from the entire nation stable, now it is time to have a complete party to ensure that land issues do not hinder development," he said.
Speaking in an interview with Joy News’ Judith Tandoh, Mr Amaglo explained that building resilient surveying was not only an asset to surveyors but to the country as a whole.
“Just like the case where we have Architect Registration Council and Engineering Council, we as surveyors need an act to regulate the practice of surveying in Ghana.
"Because of the absence of the act, you see foreigners trooping into the country and practising surveying without recourse to any law because there is no law that can stop them from practicing,” he stressed.
