More than 25 houses, motorbikes and foodstuff have been burnt down in a renewed chieftaincy clash on Thursday at Yong Dakpem Yili in the Tamale metropolis.
According to sources, the clash emanated from an existing chieftaincy dispute between two brothers claiming rightful heir to the throne of Yong skin and it led to disagreement over a funeral to be performed in the town.
Northern Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Bernard Baba Ananga told JoyNews respondent that “four suspects has been picked up last night and an additional person was picked up today.”
Also, he said the entire Yong Community has been deserted as people fled for their lives. He is, however, appealing to them to return home.
Superintendent Ananga added that the police will continue to patrol the area to ensure the safety of the people.
