Police in the Eastern Region have made contact with the female paramedic who was sexually assaulted in the ambulance robbery incident a week ago.
This comes after the paramedic had indicated days later after the incident that no one had contacted her whatsoever to make a statement.
The armed robbers shot and killed the driver of the ambulance while conveying a pregnant woman from the Akuse Government Hospital to the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua.
There were concerns the police had delayed in tracking down the perpetrators by failing to contact the victims who survived the attack.
But, the Acting Regional Police PRO, Francis Gomado, has said the police team visited the area of the alleged perpetrators but was unable to make any arrest as there was not a single soul upon their arrival.
“They went in search of these alleged robbers but unfortunately, all the place that are noted to be a settlement of the Fulanis had all vacated the area, leaving their animals alone,” he said.
He, however, indicated that “any victim of robbery will be taken care of in a certain way, so those who actually suffered some torcher or assault have been given medical forms to attend hospital and that is how far we’ve gone.”
Meanwhile, information reaching JoyNews indicates that two people have so far been arrested.
